Sri Lanka\u2019s cinnamon industry achieved a historic milestone, with exports generating nearly Rs 8 billion( USD 260) in 2025, marking the highest annual revenue ever for cinnamon-based products. This, driven by a 23.12% increase in the first eight months, contributes to a record-setting year for total export earnings of over USD 17.2 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Department of Cinnamon Development aims to boost export revenue further, targeting USD 300 million in 2026. This performance was part of a broader, strong recovery in the spices and essential oils sector, which grew by 4.6% to USD 286.7 million between January and August 2025. The sector\u2019s growth is part of a larger 5.6% increase in Sri Lanka\u2019s overall export earnings in 2025. Sri Lanka Cinnamon is exported to over 100 countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile the Central Bank says that worker remittance had recorded a new high in January 2026 posting USD 751.10 rising 31.1% YoY.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
