Sri Lanka will today officially launch its National Export Development Plan (NEDP) 2026\u20132030, a comprehensive strategy aimed at transforming the country\u2019s export sector and achieving an ambitious export earnings target of US$ 30 billion by 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The plan, formulated by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) under the guidance of the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development and with technical assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), is aligned with the Government\u2019s national vision of \u201cRich Country \u2013 Beautiful Life.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The official launch ceremony will be held in Colombo today (16), bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, development partners, exporters and representatives of the business community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the EDB, the National Export Development Plan has been developed as a strategic roadmap to accelerate export-led economic growth, strengthen Sri Lanka\u2019s competitiveness in global markets and enhance the country\u2019s foreign exchange earnings over the next five years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The plan outlines a series of measures to diversify export products and destinations, attract export-oriented investments, improve trade facilitation and create a more supportive environment for local exporters. It also seeks to encourage innovation, value addition and greater participation of small and medium-sized enterprises in international trade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The EDB noted that the successful implementation of the NEDP is expected to contribute significantly to employment generation, economic resilience and long-term sustainable growth while strengthening Sri Lanka\u2019s integration into regional and global value chains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Developed in line with proposals contained in the 2025 Budget, the plan reflects a collaborative effort between the Government, private sector stakeholders and international development partners. Officials believe the NEDP will serve as a key pillar of Sri Lanka\u2019s economic transformation agenda, helping the country move towards its goal of becoming a dynamic, export-oriented economy capable of generating US$ 30 billion in export revenue by the end of the decade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
