{"id":18219,"date":"2026-10-19T12:54:51","date_gmt":"2026-10-19T07:24:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/enterprisenews.lk\/?p=18219"},"modified":"2026-10-19T12:54:53","modified_gmt":"2026-10-19T07:24:53","slug":"sri-lanka-china-discuss-expanding-economic-cooperation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/enterprisenews.lk\/?p=18219","title":{"rendered":"Sri Lanka, China discuss expanding economic cooperation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sri Lanka and China have discussed ways to deepen bilateral relations and expand economic cooperation to support the island\u2019s economic development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The discussions took place on Thursday (14) at the Finance Ministry during a meeting between Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Wei Huaxiang and Labour Minister and Finance and Planning Deputy Minister Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both sides exchanged views on potential areas for further economic cooperation and the support China could extend to strengthen Sri Lanka\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The meeting also underscored the importance of building on the longstanding friendship between the two countries and further strengthening bilateral ties through cooperation aimed at supporting Sri Lanka\u2019s economic development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chief of Staff to the President Prabath Chandrakeerthi, National Planning Department Director General Indika Premarathna and officials of the Finance Ministry\u2019s External Resources Department (ERD) also attended the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Chinese delegation included Counsellor in charge of Economic and Commercial Affairs Tang Yandi, Attach\u00e9 Meng Yue, Third Secretary Lu Wenjing and Attach\u00e9 Li Xinwei.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Source: Daily FT <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sri Lanka and China have discussed ways to deepen bilateral relations and expand economic cooperation to support the island\u2019s economic development.
